Our Story

Axholme Engraving

Axholme Engraving began in 2006 when founder Nolan Freebury took a considerable leap of faith and purchased his first laser engraving machine. It arrived in a crate larger than the garage door and was eventually installed in a garden workshop, where Nolan taught himself how to operate it and began turning ideas into finished products. What started with one machine and a determination to build something different soon developed into a versatile engraving and manufacturing business.

Over the years, Nolan and the Axholme Engraving team have worked on an exceptionally varied range of projects. These have included personalised brick schemes for major football stadiums such as Wembley, the Emirates Stadium and Goodison Park, bespoke tableware used by leading hotels and restaurants including Claridge’s and The Savoy, and products featured on BBC cookery programmes. The business also expanded into specialist architectural work, producing custom-engraved tiles in stone, slate, porcelain and ceramic for homeowners, designers, hotels and large commercial projects.

That practical experience has also helped Nolan and Louise Freebury create and develop their own successful product ranges. Beginning with Mud Mate, they have designed products to solve genuine everyday problems and taken them from an initial idea through design, tooling, manufacturing and into the marketplace. Their more recent Bio Mate range led to a partnership with Paddle UK and received the Excellence in Innovation Award at the 2024 Nottinghamshire Business Awards.

Today, Axholme Engraving brings that experience back to the branded-product and promotional market. We specialise in creating beautifully made laser-engraved coasters, custom-shaped products, signage, magnets, event merchandise and other bespoke items for businesses, organisations, promotional distributors and private estates. From a straightforward company logo to a completely original shape with intricate cut-outs, we help customers create something distinctive that represents their brand properly.

Operating from our workshop in North Nottinghamshire, we combine modern laser technology with careful preparation and finishing. Our production equipment allows us to complete one-off bespoke projects as well as larger commercial quantities, while retaining the attention to detail expected from a specialist UK manufacturer. Every project begins with an idea, and our role is to use our two decades of engraving experience to turn that idea into a product that is precise, practical and made to impress.

From one-off designs to large-volume production, Axholme Engraving combines experience, creativity and British manufacturing to make branded products that people will want to keep.
